Although not a pioneer in the digital photographic realm, Robert should be regarded as one of the wagon masters in the early days of the studio level high resolution digital trek. Entering into the digital photo mix in 1995 was not only lonely, but extremely frightening and full of surprises - more from the marketing side than the production side - and everyone, agency personnel to film photographers, seemed to know more about digital than the few photographers mastering the task. The learning curve was great and within a few months Robert was teaching and sharing his experience because he realized photography was never going to be the same.
Having gone where so many feared to tread early in the game gave this creative a tremendous "heads up" simply through the experience of marketing and mastering the technology. Very little has evolved in the world of digital since the early '90s that hasn't in some form passed through Robert's production notes or his studio. In addition, Robert started working in Photoshop on version 1.0 in 1990 and migrated through, 2.0, 2.5, and teaching 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, which made his production value even greater as both a creative and a teacher using Photoshop CS. In addition he has worked with Leaf, Scitex, Sinar, and now Eyelike [Jenoptik] over the past decade helping to solve problems, improving the workflow, methodology, and communications amongst photographers so that everyone will realize the full potential of the technology and its value. |
